Abstract:
Zeta Puppis has been seen to be steadily increasing in flux, 20% higher in cycle 19 than in Cycle 1, and steadily rising since then in X-rays as monitored by XMM calibration observations. An HETG spectrum will be used to investigate changes in the hard-band flux and line profiles. Spectra models will be used to explore whether the changes indicate an increase in mass-loss rate, or changes in wind structure.
