Abstract:
We propose to observe with Chandra a sample of ten extremely luminous quasars with evidence of strong outflows in their rest-frame UV emission spectra, in order to understand the link between the X-ray properties and the presence of strong winds in the most luminous quasar phase. If a significant fraction of X-ray weak quasars are found, it will be a confirmation that X-ray weakness is linked to the presence of extreme outflows. If, instead, most of the sources show a normal X-ray to UV ratio, it will be a proof that the two phenomena are not directly correlated.
