Abstract:
We propose a 157 ksec ACIS-S snapshot survey of the final 10 heavily obscured Active Galactic Nuclei (high-NH AGN) from a complete sample extracted from BASS with NuSTAR spectra. to clearly detect extended emission in both the soft band associated with the ionization bicones and in the hard continuum and in Fe-Ka at 10% of the BAT 2-10 keV flux. Both hard and soft extended emission has been detected in similar AGN, typically aligned with the NLR ionization bicones. The soft spectrum is line dominated and complex, mixing thermal (shock) and photoionized gas. Unexpectedly, the hard continuum and Fe-Ka line of high-NH AGN is often extended on scales from ~0.1- 2 kpc, linking the structure of the obscuring torus, with the impact on the host galaxy, i.e. AGN feedback, via molecular clouds.
