Abstract:
We propose to study a strongly-lensed (10X) starburst galaxy at z=2.5, by a joint Chandra and Gemini observation. We aim at characterizing the extended X-ray emission associated to star formation, strongly constrain the possible contribution of nuclear activity, and, therefore, exploit the line diagnostics in the rest-frame optical band to investigate the properties of the ISM. The proposed study will allow us to calibrate the LX-SFR relation, to probe the dependence on metallicity of the HMXB population, and the growth of the SMBH including its implications for feedback modes at z>2.
