Abstract:
Microquasars are binary systems comprising a compact object and a companion star. Steady gamma-ray emission is expected to arise from their central objects, or from interactions between their outflows and surrounding medium. Li et al. (2020) analyzed more than ten years of Fermi/LAT data on SS 433, discovered GeV emission in the vicinity of SS 433, co-spatial with a gas enhancement. It (Fermi J1913+0515) shows a periodic variation at the precessional period of SS 433, linking it with the microquasar. This result challenges obvious interpretations and is unexpected from any previously published theoretical models. The nature of Fermi J1913+0515 remains unclear. We propose one 50ks Chandra observation on Fermi J1913+0515 to search for its X-ray counterpart and explore its possible nature.
