Abstract: We propose a large program (422 ks) to obtain ACIS-I observations of four galaxy clusters from the MaDCoWS survey at 0.9 < z < 1.2. These data will be jointly analyzed with SZ observations realized by the MUSTANG-2 camera on the Green Bank Telescope. They will allow us to probe the ICM physics to a level of details usually reached only with high exposure and low redshift observations. Processes such as substructure merging, ICM cooling, entropy injection, and metal enrichment will be characterized due to the complementarity of high angular resolution X-ray and SZ data. These clusters will be part of the MAD-X/SZ sample of ten z>0.9 clusters which will be used to trace the redshift evolution of the ICM thermodynamic properties and their link with merger dynamics in the matter-dominated era. |
