Abstract: We propose to perform deep Chandra observations of the most distant galaxy protocluster known at z=6.63; it is also the first protocluster anchored by a luminous quasar that ever discovered at z>6.5. The Chandra observations will identify moderately luminous AGNs and measure AGN fraction in protocluster member galaxies. This will allow us to investigate AGN fueling mechanisms and probe AGN feedback on cluster formation in the reionization-era. The combination of the Chandra observations with multi-wavelength observations will unveil the nature of this unique system. It will also deliver a deep X-ray spectrum of a luminous quasar, allowing us to characterize the accretion physics of the central black hole and search for extended X-ray lobe, an important diagnostic of AGN feedback. |
