Abstract:
Understanding the mechanisms that enable Lyman continuum radiation to escape galaxies is essential to understanding how the universe was reionized. The nearby "Green Pea" analog galaxy is a candidate Lyman continuum galaxy. Optical evidence of a powerful outflow that may clear a channel to allow Lyman continuum escape has recently been discovered. We propose Chandra observations to resolve the extended X-ray emission detected from the galaxy with XMM-Newton and determine its physical origin and potential relation to the outflow.
