Abstract:
We propose a deep ACIS-I observation on the largest Cosmic Web filaments discovered so far in emission at high-z by a MUSE survey on a quasar at z=3.2. The filaments converge into a "node" associated with a concentration of galaxies: two of these - separated only by 2" - have AGN-like spectra making them the closest-separation binary AGN candidate at high-z and the only triplet, including the quasar, which is 10" away. In addition to unambiguously confirming the AGN triplet, we will obtain a complete census of AGN within the discovered structure on Mpc-scales. Combined with the existing MUSE and future multi-wavelength data, our survey will provide a unique view on SMBH growth within a progenitor of the most massive structures in the present-day universe.
