Abstract:
This is a proposal to obtain complementary information for two very compact clusters in an XMM-Newton project to study massive clusters to be used as gravitational lenses. They have been found in a systematic search for massive clusters at z = 0.25 - 0.5 with no detailed follow-up X-ray observations so far. The main goal of this project is to characterise the structure and mass distribution of the clusters to provide the information for the construction of gravitational lense models. Both clusters show very dense and compact cores and Chandra observations are necessary to help in modelling the strong lensing regime of the systems.
